Hardware setup:

  • Start by unboxing your printer.
  • Remove the packing materials.
  • Connect your printer to a power supply.
  • Turn on your printer if it doesn't start automatically.
  • Configure your preferences on the touchscreen LCD.
  • Save the settings by touching the Confirm button.
  • Open the front door and the ink cartridge access door.
  • Unpack the cartridges and then remove the protective materials from the cartridges.
  • Insert each cartridge into the carriage.
  • Close the cartridge access door and front door.
  • Pull the paper input tray out of the printer.
  • Slide apart the paper guides.
  • Load a stack of legal plain paper into the tray.
  • Adjust the paper stack with the paper guides and refix the tray into the printer.
  • Align the print head using the alignment page and wait for the printer to show the Alignment Successful message.

Software setup:

Installing the HP Easy Start software:

  • Before starting, ensure that your printer is turned on.
  • Do not connect your printer to your computer until instructed during the driver installation.
  • Run the HP Easy Start software.
  • Accept the license agreements and click Next.
  • Now, connect your printer and computer via a USB cable or over a wireless network.
  • On the Printer found screen, check if your printer's name is listed.
  • If HP Easy Start fails to detect your printer, click the My Printer is Not Shown button.
