HP OfficeJet Pro 8717 can print beautifully on cardstocks. You can print on cardstock and use it for craftworks, scrapbooks, card marking, and more. These cardstocks are thicker and more durable than paper.The HP OfficeJet Pro 8717 printer will not print on cardstock if the weight and size of the cardstock are not supported, or if you have made any changes to the printer settings.

Try the following steps to solve the cardstock issues:

Click on the Driver tab and look for your HP printer driver.
Click the HP printer driver and choose Remove.
Select the OK option and then proceed to the next step.
In the Print Server Properties window, select Apply and OK.
Now, close the Devices and Printers window.

Go to Control Panel and click Devices and Printers.

Right-click on your printer name and select Printing Preferences.

Go to the Paper/Quality tab and change your paper type to Cardstock under Media.

And, if you are printing with MS Word or any other program, make sure that the media or paper type is also selected as cardstock.

Try uninstalling the software and installing the full feature printer software.

On your Windows system, search and open Program and Features.

Select your HP printer and uninstall it.

Open the Devices and Printers section and look for your HP printer.

Right-click on the printer and choose Delete or Remove Device.

Press the Window key + R key to open the Run command.

After removing the driver, download the full feature printer software from the official HP site. Download and install the driver and try printing on the cardstock. Also, check the compatible cardstock that HP OfficeJet Pro 8717 supports. If you use unsupported cardstock, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8717 printer will not print on it. So, it is better to double-check the media type and load the same into your printer.
