HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is a full-featured wireless printer that produces high-quality printouts. This printer allows you to print documents and photos using your smartphones, computers, PCs, etc. Sometimes the printer may face some common issues while printing. The printer issues will occur due to connectivity error, low ink level, lack of paper, and hardware or software issues. If you face any such difficulty with your printer, you can try the troubleshooting methods to fix the problem.

PAPER JAM ERROR:

If your printer has a paper jam issue, you need to remove the jammed paper from the printer. If you don’t clear the jammed paper, your printer will not respond to the assigned print jobs. Follow the below steps to fix this error.

  • First, pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.
  • If a paper is jammed inside the paper tray area, then remove the jammed paper gently from the printer.
  • Insert the input tray into the printer.
  • Still, if the error continues, turn off your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Open your HP printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Move the carriage to any side (right or left), making it easier to remove the jammed paper.
  • Now, gently pull the jammed paper out from the carriage and close the cartridge access door.
  • Connect the power cord and power on your printer.
  • If the printer still displays an error, check if there is a paper jam in the printer’s rear area or the automatic document feeder. If you find any such jammed paper, remove the sheets carefully from the respective places.

PRINTHEAD ERROR:

If the printer faces the printhead issue, you need to check and clean the printhead. If the issue continues, replace the printhead with the new one. To solve the printhead problem on your printer, follow the steps.

  • Plug the power cord into the printer’s rear port and an electrical outlet.
  • Turn on your printer.
  • Open your HP printer’s cartridge access door and wait until the carriage stops moving.
  • Remove all the ink cartridges from your HP printer.
  • Lift the carriage latch to unlock the printhead.
  • Hold the printhead and remove it from the carriage.
  • Now, gently clean the printhead using a clean cloth.
  • Reinsert the printhead into the carriage and lower the latch until it fixes into the slot.
  • Close the cartridge access door.
  • If the error still appears on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer control panel, try replacing the printhead with a new one.

INK CARTRIDGE ERROR:

If the control panel displays the ink cartridge error, you should clean the ink cartridge. By following the below instructions, you can solve the ink cartridge error on your printer.

  • Check the printer control panel to know which ink cartridge is indicated in the error message.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door of the printer.
  • Remove the ink cartridge indicated on the control panel’s error message.
  • If any protective tapes remain on the ink cartridge, remove them.
  • Using a clean cloth, gently wipe the cartridge.
  • Insert the cleaned ink cartridge into the respective slot and close the cartridge access door.
  • If the error still appears on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer control panel, clean the cartridge again.
  • If your issue is not yet resolved, fix the issue by replacing the ink cartridge with a new one.
  • Open the cartridge door and remove the problematic ink cartridge from the respective slot.
  • Unpack the new ink cartridge and discard its protective tapes.
  • Insert the new ink cartridge into the respective slot.
  • Check whether the ink cartridge is fixed in its place.
  • Close the cartridge access door.

PRINTER OFFLINE ERROR:

If the printer shows an offline error on the control panel, then follow the below steps to solve this issue.

Set the printer as default:

  • Hit on the Start button and search for Control Panel.
  • Now, choose the Hardware and Sounds option from the control panel.
  • Click on the Devices and Printers option.
  • Now, right-click on your respective printer.
  • Select the Set as default printer option.

For Windows 10:

  • Select the Start button on your computer and click on the Settings option.
  • Click on the Devices menu and select the Printers & Scanners option.
  • Make sure to deselect the Let Windows manage my default printer option.
  • Now, choose your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer from the list.
  • If your printer appears multiple times on the screen, select the printer with the online status.
  • Choose the Manage option and click on the Set as default button.

Check the printer status:

  • Select the Start menu and navigate to the Control Panel section.
  • In the control panel window, click Hardware and Sounds >Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP printer and select See what’s printing > Printer. Then disable the Use Printer Offline and Pause Printing options.
  • Now, check whether the printer is back online.
