If you are encountering problems with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 automatic document feeder problems, don’t panic. This issue can be fixed within a few minutes. Try out all the techniques we have listed below and get rid of the problem.

Check Your Paper

  • The most common issue with the automatic document feeders would be the paper feeding issue. If you are facing the same problem, check your ADF input tray. If you have loaded more than 50 sheets of paper, you need to organize the input tray in the first place.
  • If you have loaded moist or curled paper into the ADF, it may fail to feed those sheets. Moreover, an ADF cannot feed glossy and photo paper at times.
  • Remove the loaded sheets from the ADF.
  • Take 10 sheets of paper and fan the edges. Fan and load the sheets into the ADF input tray.
  • Check whether the stack completely fits into the input tray. Slide the width guides to fit the paper stack and make sure that the guides are resting gently against the paper and not too tightly.
  • Try to use the ADF again. If it feeds the sheets, the issue is resolved. If your problem is not resolved, proceed with the next step.

Clean the Rollers

  • When dust, paper, and other kinds of debris accumulate on the paper pick rollers, you will face problems with the ADF.
  • To fix the issue, open the ADF cover and clean the rollers with a lint-free damp cloth.
  • Using the same cloth, clean the separator.
  • Finally, close the ADF cover and try to use the ADF again.
  • Now, check whether the issue is resolved.

Reset Your Printer

In most instances, a hard reset can help you solve most of the printer issues. It can also enhance its overall productivity. Follow the steps below to reset your printer.

  • Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cable from the rear port of your printer and the electrical outlet.
  • Leave your printer disconnected for a minute.
  • Reconnect the power cable to the electrical outlet and the rear port of your printer.
  • Turn on your printer by pressing the Power button.
  • Now, try to use the ADF again.

Update your printer driver

  • If your ADF fails to respond to your commands, the issue might be with the printer driver itself.
  • In those instances, you can quickly fix the issue by updating the printer driver to the recent version.
  • Visit HP’s official website from your browser. Enter your HP printer model and download the printer driver recommended for your OS.
  • Install the updated printer driver and check whether the ADF issues on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer are resolved.
